Note: We have assessed each fabric's weight to the best of our ability, acknowledging that weight alone doesn't always dictate how a fabric will behave. A heavily beaded tulle, for example, may be surprisingly heavy on the scale yet drape and function as a lightweight fabric in a garment. Moderate

Moderate fabric drape is considered the most versatile, as it works well for a wide range of garments. It skims the body without clinging, holds gathers well, creates soft folds and pleats, and strikes a balance between structure and fluidity.

Note: While fabric weight and drape are often related, many factors influence drape. Lightweight fabrics can be stiff and heavy fabrics can drape beautifully. We've categorized fabrics based on their typical properties, but these are just guidelines.

Sheer

Sheer fabric allows light to pass through partially, softening the appearance of anything beneath it while still revealing some of its details.

Textured
Advanced

Advanced fabrics are often luxurious and challenging to work with due to their texture, shifting, delicate nature, intricate weaves, bulk, significant drape or stretch. They require a high level of sewing precision, specialized tools or methods, and fabric prep.

Skill Level info: While we have categorized fabrics based on suggested skill levels, it's important to remember that this is just a guideline. The best way to determine if a fabric is suitable for your skill level is to research its properties and consider your previous sewing experience.

Floral motifs are beautifully defined with fine cording, giving this light ivory French Lyon lace a rich, dimensional finish with classic couture appeal. Sheer with a moderate drape and scalloped edges on both sides, it is especially suited to bridal dresses, elegant skirts, caftans, and refined tops. We highly encourage ordering swatches before you purchase any fabric yardage in order to get the best sense of color, weight, drape, stretch, and fabrication.

Since most of the fabrics we carry are exclusive limited-stock goods originally produced by luxury fashion brands & mills, we often are not provided with exact fabrication details upon acquiring fabric lots. Therefore, ordering a swatch will answer many of the questions you might have.  Additionally, although we take every step possible to ensure as accurate a color representation as possible, the colors of fabrics cannot be guaranteed as monitor calibration and display settings vary from device to device.

Note: Our swatches are approximately 3 inches x 6 inches in size (excluding solid silks). Our solid silk swatches can vary in size based on our mill’s availability.
